In this talk, I will focus on the use of personal communication devices (PCDs) for professional communication in healthcare.
Advantages
- Streamlining communication: PCDs facilitate communication by providing accessible and dependable methods of conveying the correct information to the right people at the right time, even when corporate devices fail to communicate (McBride & LeVasseur, 2017).
- Access to patient information – allowing for more informed decision-making at the point of care (deJong et al., 2020).
- Cost savings – reducing the need for paper-based communication
- Secure communication – ensure the confidentiality of patient information.
- Telehealth and telemedicine services support – monitor patients remotely, and provide follow-up care without the need for in-person visits.
