In the past couple of months, I have witnessed incivility against one of the older nurses in our facility. According to Van Wicklin (2020), ageism is prejudice or discrimination against a particular age group, and especially the elderly. The discrimination I witnessed is ageism in which an older adult was being discriminated against on the basis that she is old and she could hardly keep up with the rigor of the profession. A younger nurse and an older nurse entered into an argument which attracted the attention of the Unit manager. The younger nurse argued that the older nurse was not able to keep up with the patient because she was being slowly and b she had to be helped with most of her duties hence she did not want to be in the same team as her.
