Managing conflict is often a major priority in organizations. Conflict occurs when there is a clash between members of a group or between individuals, which can interfere with the goals of an organization. Conflict can also be positive, however, as it can bring about needed organizational changes.
A manager or leader uses conflict resolution strategies to manage conflicts and to prevent them from becoming destructive to the organization. There are two strategies that managers and leaders frequently use when resolving conflict.

The manager or leader needs to ensure he or she gathers as much information as possible to understand the nature of the conflict and how it could impact the organization. Once this is completed, a plan of action should be decided on and communicated to the parties involved.
