The SCENARIO for your presentation:
Imagine that you are the Marketing team presenting your Marketing plan to the Board or Senior Management of your company. Your audience (that will be me and the rest of your fellow colleagues in the class) will serve as the “Board”.
Your GOAL is to convince your Board to approve of your Marketing plan. So, it is very important for your presentation to “sell” your marketing plan to the Board.
SLIDE 1: Title, Group Member Names = (DONT FILL THIS OUT BECAUSE I WILL DO THIS)
SLIDE 2: o What was the Marketing Problem? o How did you solve this Marketing Problem? (Very very brief description)
SLIDE 3: o SWOT Analysis (just grid) – explain very briefly
SLIDE 4: o Target Market and Positioning – Briefly describe your target market. Then explain the Positioning of your product/service
SLIDE 5 onwards (you pick the number of slides you will devote to this section – but a minimum of 2 slides per “P” is desirable): o Product Strategy – briefly describe your product, and any specific feature that you would like to highlight. Note that your product description should make clear how it “solves” the marketing problem. o Price Strategy – mention the price and what pricing strategy you used for determining price o Promotion Strategy (should mention Media strategy) o Distribution Strategy
LAST SLIDE: o Brief description of implementation plans – by when will your marketing plan be “live”? o What is your overall goal? (world-dominance is not an option)
For your MARKETING PLAN: A few more pointers:
1. Be sure that you have explained your “offering” very well. Your audience should not be left asking you what exactly your product/service does well into your presentation. 2. You must have a Positioning Statement for your product/service/offering 3. Your Promotion Plan must include some information related to suitable Media placement and your promotion message [in other words, stating that you will use Social Media and will place ads on Facebook or Twitter is not adequate] 4. You must include a rationale for determining your price (e.g. is it based on competition? Break even? Have you considered costs? Consumers’ willingness to pay?). 5. For “Place” (also called Distribution), please think through in terms of your target consumer (e.g., if your product is targeted at urban millennials, you should not be considering a national launch, but should focus on large cities first).
