• is the artist mostly interested in expressing a feeling or emotion? And if so, what is that emotion?
• Is the artist concerned with lines and shapes, colors, and texture with design? If so find a pattern and if its composition is interesting, boring, etc
• Does the title of the work tell you anything about its meaning?
• What kind of response does the work illicit from you- despair, joy, repulsion, etc and why
4- Judgement:
• Is the work and example of realism or imitation (imitating nature) or emotionalism and /or formalism (making viewer most aware of lines, shapes, colors, or design)
• Feelings about the artwork
• What do you know about the artist- his/her intentions/historical context. Or other history of the artwork
