In the first attached file are the 5 questions which need to be answered on the case which is attached in file 2. no references needed and information only be taken from the case, not from other online sources. 1-2 pages per questions, please also draw the diagrams if possible. after each questions I mentioned some models which need to be used, but it can also be more or different ones.
The “clues” are in the case study and the exam questions!!
When you see words like “macro level”, or “environmental influences”, or “key trends/drivers”, etc., The question is suggesting a PEST(LE)-type analysis
When the question contains words such as “competitive forces” or “industry structure” or “industry attractiveness”, etc., Then you should be thinking of a Porter’s Five Forces analysis
When you are asked to “critically evaluate” or to “evaluate the validity of the statement”, etc. make sure you do critically analyse or take a “stance”, i.e. “I agree or disagree with the statement for the following reasons….”
Please take at least 5 minutes to read all the questions and plan each question in the exam script!
Structure your answer:
Use first paragraph as an introduction your context/industry/organisation/ an argument/ point/model, etc.
Highlight key strategic points
Use bullet points (sparingly!) But address the “so what?” factor
Highlighters
Underlining
Capital Letters, etc.
Refer to the question during your answer to tie it together
State which tools, models, frameworks, etc., you will use to answer the question, and why, where appropriate;
Apply the models/tools, etc.
Draw diagrams (Porter’s 5F, Value Chain, Ansoff, etc.) with analysis and not just the bare framework!
Have you addressed the outcomes/implications from the models/frameworks, etc.? i.e. an outcome of a Porter’s Five Forces should be to assess the industry attractiveness and profitability plus position relative to competitors, or the outcome of Porter’s Value Chain is to identify value creating activities and hence, a firm’s strategic capabilities/competencies;
“So What?”
Tie the argument together in concluding paragraphs
Do’s and don’ts
Don’t “describe”!
Instead
Do “analyse and evaluate”, i.e. address the “so what” – what is the information or data in the case study telling you and its implications for decision making?
