1. Proposal document (team) 10% (1200 words)
Your organisation has been invited to tender for the business below. To be considered for this work your team needs to convince the client of your suitability in regards to your organisation’s capacity to deliver on their outcomes. In your proposal you need to explain how you are going to run your organisation in terms of the POLC concepts – Planning, Organising, Leading and Controlling.
Remember this is a management unit and therefore this is not a marketing plan exercise. You are selling your team not the product. Your teacher will be looking to see how well your team demonstrates understanding of the management functions (POLC) in your chosen organisation.
In order to establish your organisation’s credibility you want the potential client to trust that your opinions are based on solid reasoning and established knowledge. You should find evidence that backs up the arguments in your proposal and reference these using Harvard style. A minimum of four references (one for each of Planning, Organising, Leading and Controlling) are required. A suggested reference list for this unit can be found in the Learning Materials.
Restaurant
Your potential client has a passion for cooking, particularly fusion cooking that combines the food from their culture with the local Australian cuisine. They feel that food plays an important role in the stories of their culture and wants to develop a themed restaurant that celebrates these stories in the food and in the décor of the restaurant.
Your organisation will be required to develop this narrative-themed restaurant.

Provide some background to the opportunity you are tendering for. This can be adapted from the scenarios above. Briefly outline your organisation’s solution, stating what you will and will not do. Finally, outline how you have organised your information in the proposal.

What resources from your organisation’s internal environment will you use? Describe your organisation’s experience. What principles of organisational design will you incorporate?

Proposed solution Please complete this section only (aprox 300 words), and give some ideas for the conclusion for the remaining two pages.
Describe what your organisation has to offer. Stress the benefits of your organisation that are relevant to needs in the external market and point out any advantages that you have over your competitors. Remember to keep the focus on your management excellence rather than on the product.
Work plan
Explain how you will Plan, Organise, Lead and Control the project to obtain the desired outcome. If your proposal is accepted, the work plan is contractually binding, so don’t promise more than you can deliver.
Proposal conclusionPlease give some ideas/advice as to the wording of the conclusion for the remaining 2 pages of the proposal.
Summarise the key points of your proposal, emphasising the benefits you are offering and requesting a decision from the investors. Reference list (not included in word count) Include at least four sources that you have used to back up your proposal (reflecting each POLC principle) and reference using Harvard style.
