A) Looking at the epidemiological data from the community (Philadelphia Community) regarding the at-risk population of obesity, prepare a PowerPoint presentation designed to influence/teach members of your community about this issue. It will be informational (about the health needs of this population) and will be aimed to influence/teach community members that a collaborative initiative is necessary to address a certain health-related need of this population.
Create a PowerPoint presentation with speaker notes. You should have at least 15 slides that are bulleted and follow the 6 x 6 (no more than 6 bullets to a slide and no more than 6 words to a bullet).
Include:
• Epidemiology/Statistics of your population. You should look back one, five and ten years to look at trends. Is progress being made? You should compare the data from your population to that of the general community or a neighboring community. Do you see any disparities? You should compare the data from your population to the Healthy People 2010 goals. Is it probable that the HP 2010 goals will be met?
• Discuss the primary, secondary and tertiary health promotion interventions that presently are in place which make a positive impact on the health of this population?
• What resources/agencies provide these services?
• Look at community data to evaluate how well these measures are working.
• What indicators might lead one to conclude there is an unmet need.
• What can the community do to solve this problem?
• How would you measure the success of your strategy?
B) Discuss a synopsis of your PowerPoint project to share with others
C) Give the resources available in your community for victims of violence, listing the role of an agency in the community, their services available, cultural competency and how they improve services.
