Interstellar Travel via Black Holes and Wormholes
The science fiction movie, Interstellar, depicts a number of interesting scenarios of interstellar flight. The astronauts use the Endurance spaceship to fly through a wormhole and connect widely separated regions. Even though general relativity theory predicts the existence of black holes and wormholes, it is difficult to prove that black holes really exist because they emit no light. We cannot observe black holes directly, but instead must infer their existence from their gravitational effects on nearby objects. Strong gravity causes a number of effects including time dilation. This means time should flow slower than on Earth.
