1.Review Oedipus, the Written and Acted version prior to starting this assignment. You’ll be viewing the movie now on YouTube (use links posted under Week 3—Reading.) ◦Suggestion: Invite your family or friends to watch it with you in a “movie night,” and summarize the plot for them before you begin! You’ll notice that this interpretation follows the speech patterns of the play but that the setting and characterization is, perhaps, different than you might expect. It also it acted out in a different manner than it would have been when performed originally in Greece.
2.“Experience” the production of Oedipus through first reading the play and then viewing the full-length movie on YouTube.
3.Then, write a 700-1,000 word cohesive paper (not a short essay assignment) comparing the written play to the movie.
4.Refer to the background information you learned during the Oedipus Short Essays and other sources of information (with citations), as well as the Assessment Rubric for Long Essays.
