Rules for Typing the Annotated Bibliography
An entry for an annotated bibliography consists of two parts: (a) a standard reference entry using the APA format; and (b) a short abstract describing the work.
You may safely observe the following rules when creating an annotated bibliography:
1. Use double spacing throughout the bibliography without extra lines between paragraphs*
2. Write a standard APA reference entry at the top of the page.
3. The annotation abstract consists of 3 parts: (a.) a short summary of the work referenced (b.) the study strengths and limitations; (c.) was the research article easy to read, were charts helpful, etc.
Each citation will be approximately one page in length (no more than 250 words), excluding the reference. Word count is to be typed at the bottom of each page of the assignment. This assignment will be 4 pages long, due to the title page (which should include a title that describes the overall problem being researched) and three annotation pages. Each annotation should be on a separate page. Because the citations are at the top of each annotation page, no reference page is necessary..
*Be sure to set your Word documents to eliminate any spacing “before or after” upon using the “enter” key. This is adjusted via “page layout, then “spacing,” then set to “0” (zero).
