Choose a Ted Talk from the thousands of talks available on the website. Most talks are around 15-20 minutes long. The talk must relate to a psychological topic in some way. Once you’ve chosen a talk, choose an aspect of the presentation to research further. Then write a 3-5 page paper summarizing the TedTalk, the research articles, and how someone can apply the ideas to his/her life.
For instance, if a talk on happiness discusses mindfulness as a strategy for increasing someone’s overall state of well being, you can choose mindfulness strategies as the piece of the talk you would like to research. Go to the library and have one of the librarians help you look for research articles or books on mindfulness. The paper should include a summary of the TedTalk, the articles/books, and based on what you’ve seen and read, ideas for how people can use mindfulness in their daily lives.
