– For your third part of the project you should do the following:

1. Each student should analyze her own company, using ratio analysis. You should do the ratio analysis for the last 5 years. Although ratios are already calculated in either Gulf Base and in Bloomberg, you are expected to analyze these ratios and compare them with the industry average which is also available in Gulf Base.
– Since we are going to compare companies together so that we choose the best for our portfolio, please make sure as a group to follow the same procedure, which will make it easier for you when you compare.
– Concentrate on market valuation ratios (like Book to market price, price to earnings ratio…)since these ratios tell us how investors, as outsiders look at the company stocks.

2. Each student should collect weekly prices of their stocks for the last 2 years approximately (exactly 1/1/2013 until 20/4/2016) and calculate the holding period return for the stock. In addition, calculate the mean, the standard deviation, the correlation between the return on the stock and the market return (use the Stock Price Index) and find Beta for the security.

3. Check the correlation between all the securities returns in your group

4. Create a characteristics line for the selected securities with the market to have good understanding of the stock behavior
5. Be ready with this by May 4. On May 11 we will be choosing our portfolio in class and each group should be ready to form the same portfolio given the securities we will choose. You should be ready to discuss your company and answer any question about your company. Not being ready or missing the class at this date will lead to lower participation grade.

6. Please bring your computer at this particular date May 11, or at least each group should have an access to a computer in class
7. You should have all your data on excel ready to combine it with other data from other students fast.
