Based on:
Arnesen, Black Protest and the Great Migration: A Brief History with Documents
Choose at least two primary source documents from the book to be the basis for your paper. The two documents must have some noticeable differences in their points of view or the kinds of arguments that they use. For best results, choose two authors who you might expect to come with different perspectives on the same events. (For example, an older woman who migrated across the country versus a young man who remained in the South.)
Using specific quotes and paraphrases from the primary source documents in the book, compare and contrast these two points of view about any of the main issues from the Arnesen book (your choice; examples of “main issues”: race relations, migration, regional differences, economic opportunity, economic hardship, etc.) Describe what the two sources have in common and how they differ, and give some overall explanation about why they differ (or why they’re similar). You must have a clearly articulated thesis for the paper by the end of the first paragraph, and make sure that the rest of the paper supports the thesis statement.
Be sure that all information from the book is cited properly in footnotes.
