Assessment overview
This assessment will assist you in consolidating and demonstrating your understanding of some of the key concepts relating to entrepreneurship and innovation that underpin this unit – in particular, wicked problems and megatrends. This assessment provides you with the foundational knowledge and feedback to complete Assessment 3 – in which you will apply your knowledge to investigate how an organisation has addressed a wicked problem or megatrend.
Assessment details
This assessment requires you to write two separate reflection pieces on the relevant weekly topics. Reflection 1 (due Monday Week 4) will cover:
Week 2: Wicked problems
Reflection 2 (due Monday of Consolidation Week) will cover:
Week 3: Megatrends
Week 4: Entrepreneurial mindset Each reflection piece must:
include a definition of the key theoretical principles that underpin each of the topics for that submission
identify key characteristics of the topic to ensure you have correctly identified what a wicked problem or a megatrend is (as opposed to a more general business problem)
discuss how the relevant topic/s relate to entrepreneurship and innovation more broadly, and to the business discipline that you are studying. Refer to how you might use these ideas for solving problems in your business discipline.

Ensure your discussion and reflection is supported and justified by the use of relevant supporting research and examples.
As this is a personal reflection, you may write in first person and in semi-formal tone, as well as link the topics to your personal experience. However, you must include research from the learning materials, readings or wider reading relevant to the topics, to support your discussion. There is no minimum requirement to the number of references – you will be judged on the quality and relevance of your sources and how well you weave them into your discussion. All sources must be appropriately cited and referenced using Harvard style.
Submission details
Please submit your assignment through Turnitin. Note that there is a separate submission point for each reflection (Part 1 and Part 2). More detailed information is available in the Assessment 1 folder in Blackboard.
